SIZE · PLACEMENT · ARTWORK · THREAD · APPROVAL

The garment matters, but the production specification matters just as much. Every job is built around where the logo sits, how large it is, what artwork is approved and how the final stitch should repeat.

Artwork before thread

Good embroidery starts before the machine starts.

Upload the best artwork you have. Vector artwork is useful where available, while an existing DST file can help when the logo has already been digitised for embroidery.

Rebrand existing garments

Remove the old logo.
Make the garment represent the new one.

Clients can bring suitable garments to Embroiders for an existing embroidered logo to be unpicked and replaced. Standard unpicking is R20 excl. VAT per garment for each old logo position, plus the price of the new embroidery.

This is an inspection-led service. The replacement logo must cover the previous stitch footprint, and some fabrics cannot be safely unpicked without leaving visible holes, pulls, coating damage or compression marks.

Check rebranding suitability
LIKELY SUITABLE

Stable, heavier fabrics

Cotton twill, canvas, denim and substantial cotton/poly workwear usually give production the best chance of removing the old stitches cleanly.

Still inspected before production.
INSPECTION REQUIRED

Can work, but needs assessment

Pique golf shirts, hoodies, fleece, softshell and polyester jackets can retain puckering, compressed fibres or visible needle marks after dense embroidery.

Auto-quote remains provisional.
NOT STANDARD UNPICKING

High risk of visible damage

Leather, suede, PU/vinyl, silk or satin, thin performance fabric, technical sportswear, microfibre, open knits, rib-knit beanies, waterproof membranes and coated rainwear are routed to manual review.

A covering patch may be the better solution.
01Measure the old logo

Record its width and height so we know the footprint that may remain after thread removal.

02Make the new logo cover it

If the new branding is smaller than the old footprint, the previous logo can remain visible around it.

03Show us the garment

Upload a clear photo of the old embroidery and bring the garments to Wynberg for physical inspection.

04Use a patch where safer

When unpicking risks damaging the garment, a correctly sized embroidered patch can conceal the previous branding instead.
